Jacksonville Magazine gave me the opportunity to grow as a writer. I learned and refined some interview skills, bettered my knowledge of AP style writing and worked my way to bigger article pieces. I thoroughly enjoyed my time interning for this amazing company. I got along well with the staff, got sent on interviews for story pieces, sat in on weekly meetings and worked some truly awesome events.

Each staff member was there to answer my questions, give advice and push me in the direction I wanted to go. They all provided me with opportunities to increase and use my knowledge and skills. They made me feel like I was part of the team even when working on solo pieces.

Each week, we were presented with opportunities to work on something new, big or interesting. From going to meat shops, to mingling with crowds of people, to putting together shelves and laughing as we set up for events, there was never a dull moment within the company.

My time with the company was spent being an editorial intern, but I didn't always do thingss in the editorial department. I went and sold magazine subscriptions and networked at events, I  met with interesting people with interesting professions, and even expanded on some of my communication skills.

The feedback from the company gave me opportunity to learn from my mistakes, to get more creative and to find new ways to brand myself.

These are two side bar articles that were published in the November issue of Jacksonville Magazine.

This is what I contributed to a six page feature done with my editor. I covered the Q and A with Dr. Heekin and the Run. This was an interesting one to write.

These are a few articles that were published within Your Health. Pulse Points was a really cool one to write about because it is about an app on a phone that directs people to a person who is having chest pains.

These are some more articles from your health. They are about an Alzheimer's Walk and UNF celebrating their 40th anniversary with the nursing program.
